Gigle Based Powerline Ethernet Adapter Excel in Test

Tom’s Networking guide, an independent laboratory and internet channel has reported that tests done on the Gigle network-based Belkin Gigabit Powerline Ethernet Adapters show them giving better performance, when compared with other Powerline Ethernet adapters.

With the adapters equipped with the latest firmware, Tom’s Networking guide test the Ethernet devices in a typical home networking environment along with other Powerline Ethernet adapters. The environment consisted of a garden, living room, office bedroom, attic and work area.  They then did the test again in a multi-dwelling in Munich Germany.

The test results showed that the Gigle network-based Belkin adapters were able to transfer data up to 275Mbps. This was there to four times higher performance when compared with similar devices under similar conditions.  The average data rate across a range of test conditions between points around the home was 150Mbps. This represent a best in class performance when compared with similar Powerline Ethernet devices.

“Over the range of test conditions, the Gigle based adapters exceeded the performance of all other HomePlug AV devices ever tested by Tom’s Networking.  The Belkin adapters are also ideal for ultra-quick transmission of multiple video streams, and they deliver particularly robust performance in Voice-over-IP (VoIP) applications,” said Arno Kral of Tom’s Networking Guide.

The Gigle based Powerline Ethernet adapters are IEEE 1901 compliant and features Gigle Networks’ Mediastream and Xtendnet, technologies which helps to improve coverage, bandwidth and QoS (Quality of Service).
